 Assignment

As a group we had to come up with a proposal rough draft.   Each member also had to write an individual progess memo.

What was handed in:

 1) Proposal rough draft

 2) Individually-completed progress memos

Process

Each indivual team member wrote about the category they researched. Krystal Hunt wrote about the problem, Lindsaye Dominguez wrote the section called “where to get started”, and I wrote about the solution.  After we all completed our sections we met and put it all together. We also completed the abstract, table of contents, and conclusion together.  We all edited our own work, and then Lindsaye took it to the Writing Center where it was edited again.

This memos purpose was to reflect on our overall group proposal effort.  This assignment discusses the entire group proposal effort.

 What’s handed in:

1) Proposal Handouts

2) Individually completed summary memos

Process

It was required that each group hand out a handout to every one in our class. This was easy for us because we just stated all of the major points that we discussed in our proposal. The handout was very simple. It contained the title of our proposal, the problem, the solution, and where to get started.  After the presentation each group member wrote a reflective memo over the presentation.

Final Group Proposal Report

Assignment

We had to comlete a 13-18 page Formal Group Proposal.  The goal of this proposal is to practice presenting, information, analyzing it, and recommending a particular course of action  based on this analysis.  Our group analyzed our audience, wrote a formal memo, organized our information, and presented a problem and a solution.

What we handed in:

1. a 13-18 page formal proposal report

Process

We received our rough draft from Dr. Art and had to get started on our final draft immediately. We did not have much completed on the rough draft because we were very unorganized. We got a plan and got busy. We divided the proposal into sections, and got our proposal completed within two days.  We each reviewed our sections that we were responsible for, and then we took the completed document to the Writing Center.

Proposal Plan Memo

Assignment

Lindsaye, Krystal, and I asked to be in a group together.  We were assigned to work together on this project. We had to choose a topic, and create a plan for our proposal. Our memo had to be 2-4 pages long. The purpose of this memo was to describe our proposal project to Dr. Art.   We included details such as a schedule, division of responsibilities, summary of available resources, and other information that showed our group had a realistic plan.

What was handed in:

1) Planning Memo

Process

Our group decided what the individual responsibilities would be and also set deadlines for each category.  This was very helpful for the remainder of the assignment. We all proofread this assignment.

Instructions Analysis Memo

 Assignment

This assignment’s purpose is to help us practice testing and improving instructions.  We had to write a 2-3 page formal analytical memo addressed to Dr. Art that summarizes the process of this assignment.  We had to describe the instructions we analyzed, the positive and negative features of our instructions, and also suggest improvements.

What was handed in:

1) Resubmitted instructions selection memo assignment

2) Usability test notes and results

3) Instructions analysis memo

Process

I tested the instructions twice. I tested them on my mom and dad, and my sister and three of her friends. This took about one hour. After I gathered the results from the testing I wrote my memo. The memo was not very long. It contained everything that was asked for.

Instructions Selection Memo

Assignment

The first step to this assignment was to find a set of existing  instructions.  Then we had to test the instructions two times on different people. The Instructions Selection Memo took me about 45 minutes.

What was handed in:

1) Set of existing instructions

2) Cover memo

Process

I used the instructions for the game Scattegories. This is one of my favorite games! The instructions were very easy to understand. I made a copy of the instructions, and wrote a short memo describing the instructions and also explaining why I chose them.

I then prepared a letter letting them know that  I was interested in the job, and stated a few of my strengths. The job letter took me about an hour and a half.

Resume

I found two example resumes on the internet. Dr. Fricke told me which one he thought was appropriate for a sales position.  I went by the sample resume. This sample included sections such as: education, work experience, and community service. The resume took me about an hour to complete.
